The province of Tan-Tan is the second smallest province in terms of area, with an area of 17,295 square kilometers. It is composed of two urban communes and five rural communes, with a population of 86,134 inhabitants, mostly urban.The coastal city of Tan-Tan and its port, which plays an important role at the national level in the activity of maritime fishing, as well as the industrial infrastructures for processing seafood, contribute to boosting the local economy and creating new employment opportunities.
The Moussem of Tan-Tan is also a pillar of Hassani heritage, due to its contribution to the preservation of oral cultures and Saharan artistic expressions. This festival has been classified by UNESCO as part of the world’s intangible heritage.
The province of Tan-Tan has many tourist attractions that actively participate in the revitalization of the local economy, such as the mouth of the Drâa wadi and that of the Chbika wadi.
