As part of the commemoration of the 49th anniversary of the Green March, the Guelmim-Oued Noun Regional Council, under the supervision of the Wali of the region, Mr. Mohamed Najem Abhay, and the President of the Regional Council, Mrs. Mbarka Bouaida, launched a series of major development projects covering several sectors across the region’s provinces. These initiatives aim to strengthen infrastructure, improve the region’s attractiveness, reduce territorial and social disparities, and promote economic and social development. These projects involve significant investments, including inaugurations and the launch of construction works in the provinces of Tan-Tan, Sidi Ifni, Guelmim, and Assa-Zag, with a total cost amounting to several million dirhams.
On Monday, November 4, 2024, development projects in the Tan-Tan province included the launch of the rehabilitation works of Tan-Tan port, with a budget of 128 million dirhams, of which 64 million dirhams are funded by the Regional Council. Additionally, the urban rehabilitation program for the El Ouatia municipality was presented as part of the province’s emergency program, with a total cost of 120 million dirhams.
The projects also included the improvement of road infrastructure, notably the regional road No. 118 linking El Ouatia to Foum Draa over a distance of 15 kilometers, costing 27 million dirhams, as well as the national road No. 01, from the southern entrance of El Ouatia to the El Ouatia roundabout, over a length of 5.7 kilometers, at a cost of 15 million dirhams.
In the city of Tan-Tan, the emergency urban rehabilitation program for Tan-Tan and El Ouatia was launched with a total budget of 279.29 million dirhams. Furthermore, urban rehabilitation works in Tan-Tan have been initiated with a budget of 35 million dirhams, improvements to the facades of main avenues for 29 million dirhams, as well as a project for an air quality monitoring station costing 1 million dirhams. Construction works for local fields were also discussed, with a budget of 6.7 million dirhams, in addition to a project for the reuse of treated wastewater worth 12.1 million dirhams.
As part of the road network improvement, the first phase of the road connecting El Mseid to Abtyh, over a length of 75 kilometers, was launched with a budget of 130 million dirhams. Furthermore, construction and reinforcement works for the road connecting the former center of the Ben Khalil municipality to the city of Tan-Tan via the penitentiary establishment were initiated with a cost of 7.1 million dirhams.
As part of the program to reduce territorial and social disparities in the Guelmim-Oued Noun region, several projects were inaugurated. These include the rehabilitation of the drinking water network in the centers of Chbika and Tilmzoune, costing 3 million dirhams, upgrading the electrical network in the centers of El Mseid and Tilmzoune with a budget of 3.8 million dirhams, the extension of the drinking water network to the center of Abtyh for a cost of 0.76 million dirhams, as well as the delivery of an ambulance to the municipality of Abtyh, valued at 0.44 million dirhams.
As part of the National Drinking Water and Irrigation Supply Program (2020-2027), construction works for the Ouin Madkour dam in Tilmzoune were launched, with a budget of 16.7 million dirhams, along with the inauguration of the rehabilitation project for the Khenk Messaoud dam, costing 1 million dirhams. The visit also allowed the progress of the extension and rehabilitation works of the Tan-Tan dialysis center to be assessed, with a budget of 5 million dirhams.
On Tuesday, November 5, 2024, in the Sidi Ifni province, the key elements of the emergency urban upgrading program for the cities of Sidi Ifni and Mirleft were presented. This program aims to improve infrastructure and the province’s attractiveness, with a budget of 151.5 million dirhams for Sidi Ifni and 111 million dirhams for Mirleft.
In parallel, a series of classified and unclassified roads was implemented as part of the partnership agreement for upgrading the region’s road infrastructure, with a total cost of 142 million dirhams. Additionally, the launch of air quality monitoring station construction works for 1 million dirhams was announced.
Rehabilitation works for the Sidi Ifni port were also launched, with an estimated cost of 80 million dirhams, including a contribution of 40 million dirhams from the Guelmim-Oued Noun Regional Council.
As part of the program to reduce territorial and social disparities in the Guelmim-Oued Noun region, several road projects were inaugurated, including the construction of a road linking provincial road 1915 to the Aknin N’Dchahed village in the Aït Errahha municipality, as well as the road linking El Halat and Kaaour in the Anfeg municipality, for a total of 10.6 million dirhams.
Additionally, the construction of four road links in the Aït Errahha municipality was launched, for a cost of 4.76 million dirhams, as well as the construction of the road linking Lkebar Oukermar to Tarkine (Tamoucha Afand Aïssa) over a distance of 8.35 km, with a budget of 4.45 million dirhams. Finally, the start of the construction works for the road linking provincial road 1911 to the Id Biah and Tassila villages at kilometer 2.3 in the Sidi M’Barek municipality was announced, with a budget of 0.8 million dirhams.
As part of the National Drinking Water and Irrigation Supply Program (2020-2027), the launch of the construction works for the Takriante dam in the Boutroch municipality was initiated, with an estimated total cost of 16.6 million dirhams.
On Wednesday, November 6, 2024, in the Guelmim province, the key elements of the emergency urban rehabilitation program for the cities of Guelmim and Bouizakarne (2024-2027) were presented, with a total budget of 320.6 million dirhams. The launch of rehabilitation works for the streets and alleys of the city of Guelmim was also announced, with an estimated cost of 45 million dirhams, as part of a partnership agreement for implementing the Guelmim Urban Rehabilitation Program (2021-2023), a strategic project aimed at strengthening the province’s attractiveness as the regional capital.
Additionally, the kickoff of the construction works for the Princess Lalla Meryem Social Complex in Guelmim was announced, with a budget of 25.2 million dirhams. This project is part of the Guelmim-Oued Noun Regional Council’s priorities for the social development of the province and the region as a whole. Furthermore, the project for the construction of two air quality monitoring stations was presented, as part of an agreement to strengthen the monitoring network, for an estimated amount of 2 million dirhams.
As part of the efforts made by the Guelmim-Oued Noun region to encourage self-employment and support income-generating activities, twenty (20) honor loan scholarships were awarded to project holders, under a partnership agreement, for an estimated cost of 2 million dirhams.
