The program for reducing spatial and social disparities was established in response to the high directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, with the aim of reducing inequalities in infrastructure and access to basic services (roads, paths, infrastructure, education, health, drinking water, electricity), in order to improve the living conditions of the populations in the targeted areas and enable them to benefit from the natural and economic resources of these regions.
This program is based on the principle of integration and synergy of efforts between the concerned ministries and public institutions, targeting the same areas. It also relies on the responsibility of regional levels to define priorities and design projects that enhance the attractiveness of the targeted areas. It represents an essential part of the efforts to achieve balanced and inclusive development between urban and rural areas.
As part of its involvement in the program for reducing spatial and social disparities, the Guelmim-Oued Noun Regional Council allocated a total of 660 million dirhams for the period 2018-2022 to implement several projects in five key sectors: roads, electricity, drinking water, health, and education. These investments were made in response to the urgent needs of rural areas and beneficiary communities, more than 50 in total, with the goal of promoting sustainable development and improving the living conditions of the inhabitants of these regions.
