The great Fask dam is one of the major projects of the kingdom, part of the integrated development program for the region, signed under the eyes of King Mohammed VI in Dakhla in 2016.
For this strategic project, a budget of nearly 1.5 billion dirhams has been allocated, and the progress rate of the work currently stands at 80.5%. The total capacity of the great Fask dam is 80 million cubic meters, making it one of the largest dams at the national level in terms of compacted concrete volume, which amounts to 1.5 million cubic meters.
This project aims to strengthen the water supply in the Guelmim-Oued Noun region, to address the decrease in rainfall and the climate changes that the region has been experiencing in recent years, with the goal of providing drinking water to the population, ensuring agricultural irrigation, and protecting the population and its property from flooding.
