The Moussem of Tan-Tan, inscribed in 2005 by UNESCO among the “Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity”, and registered in 2008 on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, is one of the most emblematic events of Saharan heritage. This festival contributes to the preservation of Hassani oral and artistic cultures and helps to maintain the traditions and customs deeply rooted in the region.
The Moussem of Tan-Tan is a unique annual opportunity where the tribes of the Moroccan Sahara and neighboring African countries meet, sharing a rich historical and cultural heritage. This event celebrates the diverse culture of the region and contributes to the promotion of intangible heritage, which is an integral part of the history of the Kingdom.
The Moussem program, organized each year, offers a rich experience of Bedouin culture through captivating traditional shows, exhibitions of authentic crafts, demonstrations of fantasia (tbourida), camel races, as well as conferences, artistic evenings and heritage exhibitions. All this highlights the living heritage of the region, making the Moussem of Tan-Tan an unmissable event for lovers of Saharan traditions and nomadic culture.
