The preparation of oases and the fight against the risk of recurrent fires in the Guelmim-Oued Noun region are vital projects aimed at protecting the oases, which are an integral part of the natural and cultural heritage of the region. Through this project, the region seeks to address the environmental challenges faced by the oases, particularly the risk of recurrent fires, which cause significant damage to populations and property, thereby affecting the sustainability of these natural spaces.
The project aims to provide comprehensive protection to the oases by implementing plans for their rehabilitation and preparation against fires. It also focuses on strengthening the capacity for rapid response in emergencies to limit the worsening of fire damage. Furthermore, the project works to protect populations from the dangers related to fires and natural disasters by providing modern mechanisms and technologies to ensure the safety of individuals and public and private property.
On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the King and People’s Uprising, the preparation works for the oases and the fight against the risk of recurrent fires were launched in four oases of the commune of Taghjijt, namely the Taghjijt center oasis, the Tinzert oasis, the Tarkamaï oasis, and the Tkmout oasis.
These works involve the development of roadways and public lighting powered by solar energy in these four oases. On this occasion, equipment for cleaning palm trees was distributed to reduce the causes of fire outbreaks in the oases, benefiting service cooperatives, as well as mechanisms for shredding palm waste and kits for initial fire intervention in the oases.
