The projects of the program contract are priority projects within the regional development program for the Guelmim-Oued Noun region. They aim to improve the socio-economic attractiveness of the region, strengthen its role as a driver of national economic development, and develop the regional offering while preparing the region to face climate transformations and enhance its environmental adaptation capacity, as well as meet its water needs.
These projects represent an important strategic step, reflecting the commitment to strengthen the local economy. To achieve these objectives, substantial investments are required, along with effective collaboration between the various stakeholders.
With a total cost of 5.55 billion dirhams, the contract includes 37 projects, divided into three main economic pillars. The first pillar aims to enhance the region’s attractiveness, enabling it to benefit from an integrated economy capable of creating sustainable jobs for young people and local populations. This includes the development of infrastructure and public facilities that help attract investments.
The second pillar focuses on promoting social integration, thereby contributing to strengthening social cohesion among different categories. This includes initiatives supporting education, health, and culture to ensure an improved quality of life for all the region’s inhabitants.
The third pillar concerns the protection and enhancement of natural and cultural heritage. This pillar aims to strengthen environmental sustainability through projects that aim to preserve natural resources, improving the region’s capacity to adapt to climate changes. These projects meet the region’s water and development needs, thus contributing to achieving sustainable environmental balance.
