Strengthening the Sports Sector in Guelmim-Oued Noun: Construction of Local Sports Fields in Rural and Urban Areas
Meetings on the implementation of the partnership agreement for the creation of local sports fields throughout the Guelmim-Oued Noun region were held on Tuesday and Wednesday, November 14 and 15, 2023, at the headquarters of the Sidi H’sain commune and at the headquarters of the Aït El Rkha commune. These meetings took place in the presence of the commander of the Sidi H’sain Ouali commune, the first deputy to the president of the Sidi H’sain Ouali territorial commune, representatives of the Guelmim-Oued Noun Regional Council, and the project implementation agency of the region. Also present were the president of the representation of the Urban Agency of the Sidi Ifni province, representatives of the civil protection of Sidi Ifni, the urban planning department of the Sidi Ifni province, as well as representatives from the National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water – water sector and the provincial direction of the National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water – electricity sector, the provincial direction of education of the Sidi Ifni province, and the domains of Guelmim.
A field visit to the plots of land designated for the sports fields was also organized to check the land preparation and its proximity to essential networks such as electricity, water, and the sewage system.
It should be noted that the concerned committee started visits more than a month ago throughout the region, including the provinces of Guelmim, Tan-Tan, and Sidi Ifni. The following territorial communes have been visited so far: Tmoulay, Tgajijt, Bouizakarne, Ifrane Atlas Saghir, Afrkakt, Abaynou, Guelmim, Lamsid, Talmzoun, Abtih, Chebika, Ouatia, Ibn Khalil, Tan-Tan, Taghirt, Akhssas, Asbouia, Mesti, Imi Nfast, Tankerfa, Aït Melloul, Sidi H’sain Ouali, Sidi M’Barek, Sidi Abdallah Oubelaid, and Aït El Rkha.
The objective of this agreement is to promote the development of the sports sector throughout the region by creating local sports fields in rural and urban areas, in addition to contributing to the development of sports and encouraging participation, especially among youth, regardless of gender.
The parties to this agreement include the Guelmim-Oued Noun Regional Council, the governorate of the Guelmim-Oued Noun region, the Ministry of National Education, Primary Education and Sports, and the Minister Delegate to the Head of Government responsible for Relations with Parliament and Civil Society.
